11/02/2002 04:12:45 PM|||Travis||| There are certain times when I could swear that strange things are happening, things out of the ordinary. Sometimes, possibilties emerge from seeminly impossible places, places that you would never think to look. It just doesnt line up correctly with common sense, yet it still happens. The only way I can sum it up is -- seek and you will find.
It started on Monday, when Jake and I wend down to LA to meet our soon to be writer. We had some sushi, some drinks and great conversation. Mick, short for Michael, is quite the storyteller. He has a way of merging reality with his fiction that is borderline scary because the distinctions between the two start to blur. We got down to his beliefs in alien life, some conspiracy theories about flying saucers and gravity drives. As for aliens, he said that we are someone's technology -- and that I liked. His ideas about flying saucers are that humans made them and just didn't tell anyone which makes sese to me. They are not men from space, and the vehicles are not meant for space flight. Rather a researcher in Roswell NM learned how to build a gravity drive and kept it secret, because he knew what the government would do with the technology. So really the flying saucers are just people that know something that most of us don't.
On the way to the Hotel where Michael was at, I was involved in a debate with Jake about our lack of managment. I was pointing out how our schedules are unreliable and that we generally do not have a solid direction or any concrete idea of where we are going. At the time, I was thinking that I should take on these responsabilities and take lead of the company, although it was quite arrogant.
The amazing thing -- while we were discussing this, the manager from EA who worked on Medal Of Honor emails us with his resume! He is the perfect canidate for the manager position and can be the manager that we need to complete this project on time and to specification. It was a Godsend.
The next day on my way to the Nexus I stop to listen to a band playing. Upon expection, I realize that this band is not the regular rag-tag local groups that I often see. The way they are dressed, the way that they move, and their general disposition hinted that they were actually professionals. I sat down and started to make eye contact with the lead singer, a tall black haired chick with a sexy norwiegen accent. Her voice was powerful and her lyrics profound. Her general attitude was summed up in one of her songs titled "I am a god." That is when I knew she understood.
I realize now that what Jeremy said in class is true -- all around I keep seeing signs that people are becoming their own gods, worshiping themselves.
Anyways, the fun continued when I answer the phone on wed. to find out that someone wants to licence the engine. It is looking quite good as a matter of fact and we are giving them a demo next week and asking for a fat sack of cash to boot. Hopefully it will all work out.
Halloween was then on Thursday, and in the town of Isla Vista it is a peak. Halloween is ours here, it is our time to shine. It is truly the marti-gras of the west, thousands of people are packed shoulder to shoulder, buzzed off of tons of beer. It is truly a sight to behold and luckly my friends got some really good shots of it with a long exposure shot so you can get a sense for the immensity of it.
Now I am resting after the storm and getting ready for a Toga party tonight. |||83936511|||
