1/11/2003 12:54:01 PM|||Travis||| The other thing that happend yesterday (wow this is post #3 for this morning, and I haven't even had a cup of coffee yet!) was the audition.
I went to a TV show audition a couple months ago but with the wrong mentality - I wasn't dressed to kill and was acting to reserved, intellectual, etc. They wanted outrageous and funny and I gave them smart and intellegence.
When I saw the flyer for a spring break movie I knew that a better strategy was neccisary, but didn't think much of it until the day before. Sitting in my friends room, I was watching a reality TV show (strangely enough) and I casually mentioned to her that there were auditions tomorrow for a reality movie being filmed by universal studios. She had actually seen the flyer and was thinking about going, and I hatched the plan to go together.
Some history on this girl- i met her in the dorms and knew her on and off for a while. We have amazing chemistry together and can just feed off of each other's jokes and make each other laugh until it hurts - and she is hot. So us going to this audition is the best thing, because we are comfortable around each other and both outrageous when need be.
So about an hour before the audition I go to her (Jesse) place and we get ready and take some shots of Captiain Morgan to loosten up a bit. We were laughing our asses off telling stories - I went into the wisdom teeth story, she went into the blind man story, and we both just couldn't stop. It was perfect. About five shots deep we decided to go, and we ended up walking there because we kept forgetting to get people's bike keys when we had the chance.
Now along the way who do we run into but Jesse's EX BOYFRIEND. So here is a good reality show for you already -- here I am drunk with Jesse and we are both developing feelings for each other, and then she INVITES her ex with us to audition! This was suppose to be our time together! You can imagine my fustration, and the internal dynamics of our group. It was freaking TEXT-BOOK.
When we get to the auditions the place is a zoo - but I know the girl working at the counter. I go up to her and sit next to her for about an hour, trying to smooze her into letting us go. Finally I just get Jesse and the ex, and we sit next to the door and wait for them to call on the next group of people, and we assertively just get in.
It is interesting to note that while waiting in line, I was smoozing the girl at the desk while the EX was trying to fix things up with Jesse, and they went around the corner for a while until I shouted "Jesse" and made her sit next to me. Also - right before we went in I pulled out a mini bottle of Cognac which we quickly downed, and it was neccisary because we were losing our drunkeness at that point. It was the added bonus that we needed for the interview - thank god for my grand-father in law from Russia for putting it in my stocking!
So we finally get into the audition room (way out of turn, but that is how life works. Those who want it bad cut to the front.) and we are off the hook. We luckly have both producers in front of us along with the intern, and Jesse starts drawing pictures about how people are feeling. The girl working outside is stressed, so Jesse draws a picture of an "angry panda" which represents her internal emotions which she is having trouble controlling right now due to all of the people who want to audition. Things start to build from there, we are loud and somewhat belligerent, but are speaking our minds and having fun. Jesse has the producer laughing and we are all feeling great. Then Jesse drops a couple bombs.
We start to answer the 'how do you all know each other' questions, and it becomes obvious that I am after Jesse, her EX is after her and that she hasn't made up her mind yet (although she doesn't explicitly state that.) She then drops the bomb - that she MADE OUT WITH HIM a few minutes ago! Now I start to react and see what the hell is going on. I ask if tongue was involved, etc. and am guienuely pissed that while I was smoozing with the intern to get us into the audition she was making out with her ex.
It was a whole damn reality TV show right there, complete with drama, humor and boysteriousness (?a word) which is exactly what they wanted. The producers ate it up and wanted more, so it went really well. They told us that they are looking at a bunch of schools now, and if they choose UCSB that we have a really good chance of going.
