I have been thinking about the difference between a public journal and a private one, as I have both. This blog started out as a private journal, but as others started to read it, I felt that I need to have an inner sactum where I could write anything, free from eyes that could judge. Where I could write down my personal experience as best as I could describe, complete with errors and wild, manic thoughts.

Online journals give us the ability to express ourselves, our true inner thoughts that is, to our friends. At times, this can produce all sorts of problems, as if you write about how you felt towards others they could take offense, and then retaliate in their blogs, etc etc. While I haven't done this myself, I have seen it through my other friends. And so what does this mean?

Perhaps the private journal should be public...... but that defeats the private part of the private journal. For me, I would say that the private journal is a rough draft of sorts, while this is more refined. Each entry has more reflection, more thought.

Ultimately, my goal is to write a memior of my life. Rather than a journal which simply has sequencial events as they occur, a memoir is how you feel, your mental thought process. If you have had extrodinary experiences, touches with the divine (which I have felt) then memiors are a way to document these feelings, rather than simple actions and or things that happened to you.

I have had some interesting experiences that HAVE to be documented, for my sire or others. It is as if I hold a deep vision that must be communicated to others... somehow.
