Well, after almost four hours of high sugar pain, I decided to use some insulin to lower it, as I couldn't get it to drop under 300 (and that makes you feel pretty shitty). I am assuming that the jump from 12 units a day yesterday (12 units of lantus that is) to 0 units was a bit to large :) Perhaps if I would have starved myself for a day then it would have worked better- as it is I ate a good amount this morning and afternoon. It mainly consisted of nuts and... well nuts. There was a shot of wheatgrass, but that was lame and gross.

I just measured a sugar of 340, and took two units of Humolog. Hopefully that should build some momentum with my sugars, bringing them down to normal (>200) levels.

Due to the fact that I have been diabetic for six years (shit, that long already) its necessary that I slowly step things down, as my body isn't ready to go cold turkey just yet- or I don't want to have to wade through days of high sugars to get through it. I think a gradual decrease with insulin given at the right times (like right before a workout) should have the greatest effect. I'll remember that for tommorrow- a couple units (maybe only one unit) right before the gym should do the trick, keeping things low for the entire day.
