It seems that once one promise to yourself is broken, other promises become all that much harder to keep. Ahh well, at least there have been some massive improvements over the last week. Not taking insulin is an eventual goal that I can reach as long as I keep up the fight and really really hate everytime that I have to take a shot.
In other news I am reading about future markets and how they can be used to sucssesfully create forcasts much more accurately than any business. It has been said in an article that I just read that HP used a system where 26 employees would bet on the sales forcasts for the company... and they were correct 75% more often than the regular sales forcasts. The idea is a good one- since there are more people gathering information about the given problem, there is a much larger "mind" working on gathering, organizing and understanding the information.
Now the Pentagon just got blasted for trying to use future markets to predict terrorist events in the middle east (and rightly so, that is a lame idea). But perhaps there could be more uses for furture markets, expecially in business. If HP can predict sales forcasts that well.. then perhaps companys should have employee bonus programs that depend on their bets on future sales stats. That might be cool.
Could we do this in our company? With only 5 or 6 people it might be strange... I would imagine that around 50 or so would be needed for a good futures market. Perhaps we could get the community involved with this?
Hmmm, that could be entertaining.|||105953512926148325|||
