8/14/2003 02:39:08 PM|||Travis||| Wow, the amount of insulin I am taking is dropping like a rock.
Over the past two days I have upped both my Cholecalciferol dosage and started on Vitamin K (which I have probably never recieved before in large quantities). The result? I have used less insulin and had more hypoglycemic attacks (this is actually a somewhat good thing).
I need to document what I have been taking/eating so that I can teach other diabetics how to lower their insulin requirements as much as I am. I am on 4,000 UI's of Vitamin D, just started taking 1mg of Vitamin K, fish oil (have been on two tablespoons for almost a year), a full multivitamin, alpha limpoic acid, vitamin C (take it whenever I can), Silenium, Vitamin D (not full spectrum), and thats about it. The recent changes have been the upped vitamin D and the Vitamin K, although I need much more vitamin K as the tabs I got are only 100 micro grams and I need to be on 10 miligrams (thats two orders of magnitude! I would have to take 100 pills of the kind I have now for a good dose).
My long-acting insulin is down to 8 units a day. When it runs out, my sugar tends to climb up over 200 (it reached 250 last night) and I have to take some H to bring it down. One problem- I stopped eating anything past 6:00. So as my sugar starts to decline and continues to do so, it makes me low in the night and in the morning. The resolution is to again, lower the long acting and also to lower the H dose before bedtime (if my sugars are high). Fasting after 6:00 is really beneficial and healthy, but I have to adjust my insulin regime accordingly. Looks like the rise begins around 8ish. I should compensate with H then... and watch what I eat for dinner. Perhaps that chicken half had some hidden carbs somewhere?
Well, don't want this to be soley about my diabetes but whatever. I am really fighting hard to overcome this horrid disease and want to get my body functioning properly once again. I horibly mistreated it for most of my life and now it is time to fix it up. All of the anti-oxidents and vitamins are going to help, along with my dedication and persistence.
On another note, we are going to be homeless for a while because of the 30 day notice I sent in. That was a silly thing to do, and I should have waited before I did that, as we now have a huge gap between when we can move in and when we are forced to move out. Sucks.
On a brighter note- girls have started appearing again. Drinks with Jesse tonight, perhaps Leah next week?|||106089714885479388|||
