It was the sound of Computer Architecture getting dropped like a log into water. Sploosh! Its gone, and along with it are all the horrid thoughts of datapaths, ALU's and controls. Its a nightmare that is bound to return at some point though.
It hit me about half way through the midterm that I didn't know much about how computers work, and that there was no way I was going to figure it out with the test that was given to me. Even a full day of concentration wouldn't be enough- I just didn't know it.
So I walked away. Just handed the test in, sighed, and then moved on. Since I can drop the class still (special ability for being in a cool college) I can breathe easy. I still might have to take the class later, but hey- if I am not going to nail it, I might as well drop it. Its silly to do something half assed, so if I am going to learn about how computers work, I better understand that. I mean really understand it, so that it becomes part of me. So I sit down and take the test and know every answer as soon as it is asked and the only issue becomes- how can I quickly articulate what I already know?
I am just sick of BS'in people and things. If you know, you know, if you don't you.... well, don't. So admit it and move on.
So I made a pretty big decision as of late, which is to move ahead full force with Gnostic Labs and Eschaton: Chain of Command. I became really dissillusioned for a while, and thought that there was no way we could possibly make a game. I though that Jake was full of shit, that we were out of money, and that we were in a hopeless situation. I also thought that I could start a new company and hit it big on my own terms, controllling everything and answering only to myself.
But I look at Jake, and that is what he set out to do, almost four years ago when he was my age. I watched the evolution of the company, from wild and crazy, to semi-insane, down to realisitc. Starting over now would be hard for me, and would cost me many more years of my life than if I teamed up with Jake. Sure I have to put up with him and not have nearly as much control in the company, but what the hell.
So its time for the Gnostic Labs public relations machine to start spinning its great wheels, lining up interviews, previews, press releases and general shouts into the gaming world in hopes that the right people will hear so that we can get this company off the ground.|||106807489125524724|||
