12/08/2004 01:55:28 PM|||Travis||| Feeling much better today as opposed to yesterday. I think that after some intense introspection, I have reached what I feel is my calling and am going to jump into it. My breakthrough last night was that my extremely long term goal of building a floating city will require a grounding in all aspects of real estate. So its no suprise that real estate was so attractive to me when I was working on the game project because it was in tune with my long term vision. So large scale construction is what I want to focus my carreer on. Its a big industry. By big, I meant that almost 10 percent of our nation's GDP was spent on construction and real estate development. That is about half a trillion dollars, or something insane like that. Sounds like a big enough market.
Floating city... you may think I am crazy, and I am. But there is something really sexy about large construction projects such as huge skyscrapers or... floating cities. Japan is the first country to investigate this, and already I believe one of their airports sits on an artificial island. What I am envisioning is not an actual dirt island, but something that floats and is moveable. If construction costs for a linkable platform can be brought within reason, then suddenly you can create lots of little platforms and link them together to form a floating city. Not really a new idea, but a cool one none the less and something I want to get done in my lifetime. Googling for megafloat will lead to some information about Japan's ongoing floating airport project, which they hope will become commercial in the next decade. Why stop with Airports though? If the tech is there, build an entire resort city on the ocean. And do what you want in the saftey of international law.
So for now I am going to start mortgage brokering. Want to buy a house? Refinance? Buy some investment property? That is right, I am your man. I am joining up with All Fund and selling a special type of loan that is intune with the "Rich Dad/Poor Dad" style of financial thinking, and a great way to get into the real estate game. More on that in a bit, I am still in the process of becoming licenced, etc.
Three more days until I load up to go to Telluride, CO. OMG this trip is going to be bomb! My snowboard got in yesterday (I bought as opposed to rent... perhaps I will ebay it off after this season. But I am a FILTHY CONSUMER WHORE). But I can sell if after I am done with it, if I need the money and it will be more economically viable then renting whatever crap the mountain has that day.
