Karaoke and German Engineering

What an amazing weekend. Not only was it filled with productivity but it also came with high portions of good old fashioned belly, jiggling fun.

The annual Pyron Technologies Christmass party kicked it all off. There was a white elephant gift exchange where I exchanged some Sea Monkeys complete with a purple palace for some vibrating slippers. And once again, I win. Then came the annual karaoke madness with John Barnel, our lead developer and goto creative singer man, who layed down the law with “Livin’ in a Coder’s Paradise” to the tune of Living in a Gangster’s Paradise. Wow. Then it was my turn to retaliate and let the developmentals know that the sales team is going to keep them on their toes. We sang “Laurie’s Upstairs with Donuts” to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. People cried, held hands and became overrun with emotion over the whole ordeal. But it wasn’t until me and an imfamous partner busted out “She Bangs” by Ricki Martin that it really got out of hand. It was like we were in an N’ Sync Show. People were screaming for more…. next time we will need some security up in that place.

And then it was time to pull the Benzo into the garage and fix out a leaky water pump. Most of the time I fix my car it goes through phases. First- dispair. I wonder why the hell I am underneath my car wrenching away at some bolt. My patience is usually tried as well… when I was stuffed underneath my car in a wierd position, cold, covered in oil and generally unhappy was right when the wrench falls out of my hand and I bump ed into something that smarts. I regain composure and then keep at it. As the forces way down all I do is press harder, like the last rep before you leave the gym. Then suddenly things start to fall, one by one. After an hour of drilling out the lock to my trunk, POP, it flies open and I shout out in victory. Then put the new fan on and the puzzle comes together, ending with elation. It makes me feel magical once it all works, like when I finally turned in a working computer science project in college… it is all the same. Problems, solutions, more problems and finally completion.

And its worth it, because now with a portable drill and about 10 minutes, I can get into any 81-85 Mercedes Benz 300sd trunk. So there.

Yo Tavis…nice blog. I stumbled upon it today doing some “research”. You see I am job searching, and I googled pyron technologies. I am thinking of applying for a job there? Is it a fun place to work?
