Trying To Become A Rockstar In Los Angeles
Well my ten day excursion to Los Angeles and Las Vegas has my mind flipping around in circles. I don’t know really where to begin. My goodness, so much happened. Absolutely ridiculous as a matter of fact. So I am going to have to break this up into a two part post.
The fun begins at the hotel Marina in San Pedro, which is the part of LA nestled between Long Beach and Palos Verdes. Nice area. The wedding is a combination of a Montana Man and a Los Angeles girl turned Montana girl. They are great together and I was happy, along with the entire entourage of Montana men and LA girls. Wow, what an interesting party the entire wedding day became. The notorious Montana boys were known to get a little rowdy and we let everyone know that the Wild West is still alive and kickin’. While some of the Montana boys chugged Jack Daniels straight from the bottle before noon and the LA girls sat starring in disbelief with mimosas. Good times. Next I meet up with my brother on a Sunday and head up to his place in the Hollywood Hills where the LA fun continues.
The first night started with SoCo + limes and ended in a dive karaoke bar across town. I felt a little out of practice and I believe the crowd thought so as well. LA crowds are so much harder to please. The next night out we went to the Beauty Bar in LA. Here you can find LA “Hipsters” which are much different from Missoula hipsters. LA Hipsters are actually made of plastic and their hair and clothing style reflects this. One girl I recall looked like a airline stewardess from the 60’s and her hair was in a perfect plastic, shimmering bob. Amazing.
The last LA night began at my brother’s girl friend house. She is a charming girl and theatre person, daughter of a producer who made some great Television shows and perhaps even more children- 9 in total. We went to the beach at Malibu for some silly pictures and then she introduced me to a member of The Mornings, a band in which her brother performs. Bob (is that hiis real name?) was playing with some stop-motion animation which had us falling all over the place because we were laughing so hard.
The fun didn’t stop there by any means however, as we then headed over to her Dad’s house for a screening of the Children of Men. So-so in my opinion, but the company and entire experience was enchanting. The night for me ended when I met up with an old friend from High School, Syann Motl, at Big Wangs in Hollywood. For a good time, ask someone directions to Big Wangs at a party and see what happens. I got some very interesting responses.
So now, as if I hadn’t experienced enough, we head off to Vegas. VEGAS. And I am going to have to post about that tomorrow; it is just too much for me right now.
I need to drink more chamomile tea.
